4th of April and just had a fork horn Mule buck go thru the back yard still with both horns solidly on his dead.
Biggest fork horn I've ever seen, 20-24 inches high at least with 12-14 inch forks. not exceptionally wide, maybe 16" and not real heavy. Can't decide if he's a young buck with tremendous potential or a mature buck that should be taken out of the "horn" gene pool .

I know his horns are still solid because I watched him reach around and scratch his flanks using his horns quite vigorously....I was hoping they would fall off in the yard LOL.

In my experiences with mule deer bucks, these big 2x2 fork-horns were always at that stage. I've viewed many bucks from 1.5 years old until their death, always a 2 point.

I would guess he’s an old Buck. I shot one similar to what you’re describing on the last day of the season in 2016. His teeth were all worn down to nubs. He is the biggest bodied deer I’ve ever shot, I got 120lbs of good sausage meat off of him, along with another 40 lbs of scrap meat for the dogs. I guesstimated him to be 350 lbs on the hoof.
