Posted this in optics but have zero answers, I want to put a laser on my new Stag, I think the green would be best, but I also have a M&P 40 pistol and would prefer to swap the laser back and forth from rifle to handgun, I think a handgun would look funny with a 4 inch green laser sticking out the front, thats why I was looking at the NC Star red laser sight that is a knock off of the LaserMax series of sights.

Anyone have any experience with either of these? I am especially curious about the performance of the red sight(lasermax style knockoff).
Thanks for the help :)

Green Laser can be easily seen in day light, up to 50m although the pressure pad sometimes really gets annoying. The Red Laser can barely be seen to the 25m on a sunny day but it can be used a double mountable object.
Me personal, go for the green cuz if your like me and practice for 3 gun out side green works wicked for keeping you on target for short distances for quick acquisition of targets.

Handgun and Rifle laser should not be interchangeable.

To get a worthwhile laser it will be too big for a handgun -- for handguns stick to Crimson trace

Kevin:

While we are on the topic of lasers, if you were going to mount a laser on an AR Carbine or shortie, which would it be and what should one look for.

Further, and please forgive my lack of knowledge, beyond target aquisiton, are there other usese for lassers??

I'm not a big fan of Visible lasers - unless you are doing it for checkweld issues with a gasmask.

Some use them with a sims mask - but while thats fine if you usually use a gasmask during ops, it just reinforces a different tyoe of aiming method.

I don't have much use for a visible laser -- I will use an IR laser for use with NV - but thats about it.

Kevin:

Thx for taking the time to respond.

I have additional quesitons, but they would be a hijack and will send them via PM.
