My father in law invited me up to northern Ontario for some hunting and fishing.
I jumped at the opportunity since we usually only go North with the kids and BBQ and spend time at the beach.
It's definitely not cold enough up there yet. Most of the leaves haven't even started to turn but they were getting some colour as I left this morn.
The days were getting up to 20C but felt like about 10C with the wind.
The birds were skittish and the wind didn't help either. With the leaves on and the grass still green or standing tall, since the frost hadn't come yet, it was definitely hard to see.
We scared about 7 up (that we saw) but we're only able to shoot 3 birds all weekend.
Normally late October you get your limit in a morning hunt.
We stopped by a few secret fishing hot spots in the middle of nowhere. Places you have to stand there and take it all in before you can even get in the boat.
We got lucky and pulled 4 gorgeous speckles out in a few hours.
They hit hard but flip around so much they can be hard to net. needless to say a few got off before we could net them. We drove over 500k on dirt roads that go forever and walked old log trails taking in the scenery.
Getting a bird is gravy since we enjoy just being out there so much.
Anyways... Here's a few pics.
Cheers
