Hi All

My latest project is almost finished, all the parts have been gathered, and are ready to go.

First off I would like to thank everyone who helped in some way with this project, Frank and others at Marstar, Louthepou for his advice with fitting the buttstock, and (it can't be emphasized enough) especially Rgg_7 for the IMMENSE!! amount of help that he gave this budding "Restorationist".

It all started with a nice 1944 LongBranch #4MkI* action that I picked up at Marstar

Over the next little while I managed to pick up the rest of the parts including a nice barrel, all the time looking for actual period LB parts.

The barrel has been fitted and headspaced with a the LB bolt.
The buttstock an unissued LB one has also been fitted, and the buttplate put on.

These 2 books have been used extensively during this project.

It was actually the first time that I have fitted an Enfield buttstock and I was a little worried that I would cause damage in some way but it worked out perfectly and am looking forward to the next one.
More photos will follow once the work is in progress.

Very nice. The # 4 is my favorite to restor as the parts arn't too hard to get and there are millions of sported rifles out there
I love new looking rebuilds. The thing is, you are wrecking a historical, just the opposite.

What do you mean I am wrecking a historical?

im looking into getting a no1mk3. anybody know how much they are on average. i dont want a dewat or sportarized. i dont really care if the stuff is miss matched or if its pre war. as long as it looks right for a historical reenactment. thanks

Nice. Did you get all the parts from marstar? I have a fazakerly no4mk1 I'd love to restore some day. Mine needs every darn part as well.

I think it's a typo, probably meant to say "you are not wrecking a historical, just the opposite" - that would make more sense?

Good job by the way, Tbolt!

Lou

SOOOO Sorry. Yes, a typo. Did in no way mean to imply wrecking it.
May a thousand camels spit in my tea.

Been keeping track a bit, it's not cheap because trying to buy the right parts is harder than just buying any old parts which would have been less expensive.
But on the whole not too bad.

Looks great, are you keeping track of costs or would that scare the bejeezers out of you?

Buying the right mfg parts is difficult. I usually buy whatever I can get and hope some of it will be matching. Few suppliers will tell you the make of the part. You dodn't know till they get to your door. My cost for parts usually run about $200. I am trying to get that down buy buying more parts at one shot as shipping can break the bank.
Looking forward to the photos.

I've had some luck when it comes to parts, just asking questions at the right time has snagged me some choice parts.
I've managed to get some good stuff off of Ebay while being careful about who I deal with.

I lucked out yesterday. I got 2 barreled receivers, 2 rear sights Mk1 and Mk3, 1 bolt minus the cocking piece, 2 front sight guards, one with screw all for $100. I got them off of a gunsmith in B.C.
So luck does play a part now and then.
I am waiting for 3 complete stock sets supposedly in very good condition $70 each delivered.
It's the hunt that is part of the fun. Ebay is great. Numrich, Marstar etc are pretty good to. I go to all the gun shows I can. Prices vary from not to bad to "Give me a break"

Nice, I wish I had managed to score that.

The newest pictures will be up tonight when I get home.
More will follow that once I get work done on it tonight.
