Lathe humming when trying to start.

couple years ago i was on here trying to get my 3 phase beaver mill up and running in a shop without 3 phase...... I looked at the static converter idea and mulled it all over and finally went and got a VFD. Such a simple and reliable set up and it cost me well under a grand.
 
New update. Replaced the fuse with a solid wire to confirm. Everything run fine. Replaced fuse. Will try it out working and see if the fuse will blow again. I never replaced them so not sure how old they are. Static phase converter was already part of the lathe when I bought it so I didn't go for a VFD at that time. I did for my milling though and you guys are right. Best thing ever and variable speed control as well instead of changing pulley size with the belt. Thanks for the help.
