Ive got my layout blind packed away in the corner, and went to grab my pop-up blind to prep for going out tomorrow morning... and the wheels started turning. Im trying a new spot tomorrow since my current stand isnt working out (only catching does on the camera) and plan to use the pop-up.

Id imagine with a rifle/shotgun, the layout blind could be definitely usable for deer. Propped up at a bit of an angle for better visuals in front, and some good brushing in. Could be a nice comfy/warm way to get out for a hunt, and they're easier to pack/set up IMO.

Now the problem lies with using it with a bow. I might have to set up in the backyard and practise shooting while seated. Obviously the hard part is going to be keeping from out of sight/spooking the deer. Wondering if anyone has gone this route before, and how it worked?

Sounds like it might be a little tough to do with a bow....Why not just forgo the layout blind and build yourself a natural blind that will suit your needs.

Definitely a different idea. I'd say the advantages of a regular (or natural) blind would be greater as they provide more cover for your movements. As well you don't have to lift your head up all day and peer around. And of course if something approaches from behind. And you don't have a couple flaps to open. And you're going to have to do a very slow and agonizing sit up if there's a wary deer close by you plan on getting a shot on. And it'll be harder to find areas with shooting lanes that work from 1.5' off the ground.

I have gotten shooting at coyotes from mine during duck/goose hunts and had a deer walk right into the goose decoys one morning without knowing we were there. She must have stood in the dekes for 5 minutes before moving on and then came back about an hour later and did the same all over again? We could have easily shot that doe that morning from our layouts. The low profile blends easily. I often thought of using it for deer as well but never tried it.
