How many people would be interested in a reproduction Long Branch 1941 waisted front sight protector if a way could be found to make some up? I'm told every proof mark would show up clearly...

PS: If you have a mill and the right ball cutter, these can pretty easily be made from standard original LB protectors.

If you look at the front of the waisted front sight protector, you can see where it hides most of the front sight base. The standard milled front sight protectors have this area open. So unless you are adding a plate to the front of a modified front sight protector, you will not get the desired effect.

Cantom: I would be in for one.

But they wouldn't have the right proofs etc? Also, I don't believe the later ones have the right internal shape and profile...look at this inside pic. They are quite different...as Stencollector beat me to saying.
The later ones flex, when loose they move around, when you tighten the screw up they draw in. I suspect the waisted ones are stiff and unmoving...how could they flex with that part across the front?

Everyone else is jumping on board, so count me in. I don't even have a LB 41 but what the heck!

So what's your plan Tom?

Depends on hearing back from a couple of people...

BTW, I had a collector come down on me for this idea today, didn't like it at all, like I was making counterfeits to fool people was the gist of it...

Well, we all know that's not your goal, so don't worry about it ... ;)

To satisfy everyone and since there's going to be stamped markings put on it during the manufacturing process anyway, why not simply add an "R" in a circle to signify reproduction, then it shouldn't be a problem if people buy them and start selling them on eBay as genuine?

great idea, but with CNC machine time pricing you are looking at around 120 to 160 per unit in the white in lots of 50. That will cause most to run for cover......

Got one!

This came in the mail today...:)

A very elusive little beastie...

I put it on my 41 Long Branch even though it has a 6 on it and is probably for a No 1 Mk 6.

It dropped right on perfectly with zero issues.

I've wondered about the screw...it's the same thread as the later protectors, just a bit shorter. You can use the standard screw, it just sticks out a bit when you thread it in all the way.
