My wife saw the Ruger LCR on the cover of an issue of guns and ammo and she wants one.

Her exact words were "that's nice, I like it! Buy me it, I want to carry it in my purse.":D So I, again, reminded her that this is Canada and Liberlas prefer victims not bad people with extra holes. To which she replied " That's so stupid."

She has now asked sever times if ive found anything so it looks to be more than a passing thought. Now knowing this revolver is a stubby does anybody know if there is a revolver similar and available in Canada with a restricted barrel?

I'm guessing it was the black hammerless look with the skinny, cartridge contoured cylinder that caught her attention.

Fireball, as this is Canada as you mentioned to your lady, the barrel of a pistol needs to be 4.2" long to be legal...like the Ruger SR9 I own. Show her some pics of Walthers, and see what she thinks...

I suspect that the closest you're going to find in Canada is the S&W 63. It's an 8 shot J frame with a regular hammer that is all stainless. The models sold here in Canada came with the old 5 or 6 inch barrel. A smith could cut it down and remount a front sight to get it down to 4.2 or slightly more. But that's about as close as you're going to get.

Another option is a S&W Model 34, which is a prohib, that could be extended and sleeved to make it 4.2 inches.

But none of them will still have the stubby "bulldog" look once the barrels are stretched out to a rather Pinnochio like 4.2 or longer.

Since "they" won't let us import any new prohibs we're not going to see any LCR's or anything like them come up this way that would allow us to increase the barrel to a restricted length. So we're stuck with what we've got.

Showed her the S&W and she wasn't keen, even the R8 didn't interest her. Can't say I didn't try.

The Ruger website had a "email the CEO" function so I set off a quick message. I don't expect anything to come of it but it was fun none the less.

What about the Charter Arms Bulldog? Stainless, US made, 5" barrel, 5(6?) shot. Plus its affordable at just over 400 bucks. Available in .22, .357 and .44 spec. Epps has a lot of them right now.

Might also want to check out the Ruger SP101 when they hit the Canadian market with the new 4.2 barrel.

Afterthought, if she's sold on wanting DAO, you can always take it to a gunsmith and have the hammer shaved down/off.
