Does anyone know of where you can get lead-free ammunition in Canada?
Did a few searches and did not find much. Might be using the wrong term.

Thanks

Are you speaking of steel?

Probably more common in shotgun ammunition than the chamberings he's listing. More likely "lead free" ammunition would be available in solid copper, even tin and other stuff for the .22LR.

Anything no lead. Not sure what the standard is.

With California going lead free I'd suggest perusing some California based hunting/shooting sites to find names/part numbers of ammunition with lead free projectiles, and then start looking at retailers who are dealers of said brands... are you wanting lead-free primers as well?

As far as who sells it... I haven't noticed much of that stuff advertized for sale on Canadian sites/stores. Might have to special order it. The solid coppers for .223 Rem might not be too bad up here. Might be able to find some of the non-lead .22LR in stock as well. 9mm TMJ w/ non-tox primers is fairly common, but it's still a lead projectile. Completely lead free 9mm might be getting pricey.

Do you reload? That could expand your options.

Le Baron has 9mm "Winclean" ammo . The bullets have a lead core but are completely jacketed including the base. They also
have lead free primers. I have shot this ammo indoors for years. They have most of the other handgun calibers but not 22.
I'm assuming that lead exposure is one of the reasons your asking. There is "Green " 22 and 223 ammo available in the states although I haven't seen any up here. Keep in mind that most of the exposure is from the primers not the bullets., so if you are reloading using fully jacketed or plated bullets and using regular primers you still have exposure. This is really not an issue when shooting outdoors, but something to consider for frequent indoor shooting. I've known shooters who got "Leaded up" from high frequency indoor shooting. Could have been poor ventilation, but I do see more guys wearing masks(Ventilators) at indoor ranges.

The 'frangible' in frangible ammo has nothing to do with what it's made out of. Sort of. Frangible ammo bullets break up easily, but that doesn't mean lead free.
Don't think there's lead free .22 LR, haven't looked, but there are fully plated(tmj's etc) and fully jacketed(vs not. Military ball is not.) 9mm and .223. There are Barnes' copper bullets too.
Mind you, there is a lot of scary nonsense being promulgated about lead poisoning too. It takes a great deal of long term exposure. Shooting and reloading cast bullets does little unless you're casting in an unventilated or poorly ventilated room AND are exposed elsewhere. Like at work.
Anybody who does not wear a mask when shooting inside is nuts. But it's more about avoiding the black, um, crap you have to clean out of your snout than lead exposure.

Sorry, but I have not encountered any modern frangible ammo that contains lead. It is marketed as "premium ammunition to advance the lead-free frangible concept" break apart upon impact and prevent ricochets, lead is not good at doing this.
