Good day everyone
I am a member of a local gun club around Kingston and they have an indoor range
But they only allow lead free or 'green' or 'non-toxic' bullets to be used indoors
Has anyone heard of any such thing in a 22LR?
And if yes who makes them and how do they hold up?
i am using them on a remington 597 semi.

So far I have been using CCI 40gr high velocity rounds for target and small game shooting, works very well, and at $8-10 a box the price isn’t bad either.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you

I am sorry I can not help you with your question but I would be interested to know if such a thing exists....although I know I have never seen a lead free 22lr.

ask the members what they are using( brand) and see if you can't find an equivalent- like you I've never heard or seen such a thing- however, there are lots of clubs that don't allow EXPOSED lead bullets( ie you must used copper cased or copper washed)or jacketed bullets - depending on who makes it= just be aware if the only place you can get those bullets is the range- range ammo usually costs considerably more as they figure you'll buy due to pressure- now when you get into c/f there is a considerable range of so- called "green ammo" around

I remember seeing a green tin based 22LR ammo advertisement in a gun magazine...I think it was Winchester super X..California legal eh...but its pricey I should think. Say good bye to $8/box...and good luck finding it in Canada

thanks everyone for the reply
i dont know what others are using and the club does not sell any rounds at all so those are out.
as for full metal jacket ones, yes they do allow them so i guess i will just have to goto my ammo guy to see what he has
too bad though i find cci works the best. in my 597 anyway
the low velocity ones dont recoil the semi auto well. i find that if i put anything slower than 1000 or so FPS in my 597 it wil not recoil well.

Isnt cci green tag non lead 22lr ammo?? Ive seen it for sale and its like $16.99 per 100

CCI green tag is subsonic lead bullet target ammo.

CCI supposedly makes a non-lead 22lr called "SRG" or "Short Range Green" but I haven't seen it anywhere.

Winchester makes tin-based Super-X 22lr ammo, but I have never seen it anywhere in Canada.

I think as others said - try the copper-washed bullet approach. Also, see what the range people have to say. Ask them if they are banning 22lr from their range...

Best Regards, Geraldo
