Lead-Free primers in Canada?

A couple of years ago I purchased some Fiocchi "heavy metal free" primers from Western Metal. The interior of the fired cases were amazingly clean.
Right now they are out of stock.

I was of the impression that lead-free primers are not being offered on the component market at this time. They are going to loaded ammo only, at least so far as the Big 3 American companies are concerned.

Yeah, only ones I found so far. Sent them an email asking if they had an ETA...

Answer just came in: No firm ETA, best guess was 1-2 years.

OUCH.

Apparently Federal has gone big into a new primer formula that is lead free and expected to replace most or all of the current primers. Bismuth and aluminium instead of lead. Called "catalyst".

I'm guessing it's a few years from being on the shelf too though.

I wonder if they're already using them in their existing non toxic ammo. I've picked up a ton of 9mm brass from the local police that has larger than normal flash holes.
