Hey all,

The dealer from witch i got a 870 express surshot synthetic turkey, told me that i should only shoot lead shot because of the " ultra full" choke, why us that?

Also can i replace the choke for an adjustable one? I would like to be able to shoot slugs With it!

Thank you blasted saber! I know the dealer well enough to know that he didnt try to bs me but didnt have the time to ask for an explanation.

Thanks for the info!

It is generally accepted you can shoot steel through any choke less then full (cylinder, skeet, improved, modified). Remchokes run you about $15. You'll have to buy a choke wrench too. Your turkey choke should unscrew by hand (give it a try and make sure it is a removeable choke in fact).

I find my 870 shoots slugs best with an improved choke. Dont shoot slugs through any choke tighter then full.

For slugs, use either improved cylinder or you can get a rifled choke. Some guys claim they are very accurate. With a rifled choke, you'll probably have to use sabot slugs or Remington make one, I think it's called the Buckhammer, that you can use in either rifled or smooth barrels.
