Lead shot price?

There are very few stores in Alberta that have shot at any price so Bass Pro might be able to get away with that price gouge. At that price I would just not reload.

Gouge? That price is more like an amputation... I'd be surprised if BPS sold any at that price.... Especially when Hummason's and Lawry's are an hour away with the best prices in the province.

You're right about buying factory loaded (12 & 20ga) shells - at $50 and change per flat, why reload?... 28's and 410's are another story...

Winchester is supposed to be making a price adjustment in our favour to get closer to this $50 mark :) as a result of a relaxation in the price of Pb.

I hope you are talking about the AA and not the white box target loads. Thoes things are by far the worst target load I have ever shot.

I've run 4 - 100 straights in singles with them and a 95 + 96 in handi cap. That being said I still shoot AA at registered birds

Are you guys talking about the white box with red lettering winchester super target shells???
If so I hope you are not shooting them in one of your older high end guns since they are loaded with Steel shot and not lead:mad:

The Super-target that I have is lead shot.

and the only problem I have with them is that they slightly score the ejection port on my 391. I will just use them on my o/u guns.If they get to $50.00 here I will load my truck with them.

Interesting Covey. Do they look like these?? That is what I was refering to. Would they be dumb enouigh to sell lead and steel in the same style boxes

All the super targets I've ever bought have been lead, atleast I hope so anyways. Never really had a problem with them but then again I don't shoot all that much. Last flat I bought cost me $55 at wss on sale over Christmas.

Same box, except for the "Steel" part, mine all say "Lead".

Thanks. Not sure what winchester is thinking using the same box for both.
If guys are like me that don't even think to look for steel in target loads there is going to be a lot of pissed off people when they get them home and see they are steel or find out after they shoot them. Just wondering now if that was why they were so low priced here.Everything in this world today has to be double checked to make sure it really is what we think it is.Take care

That is interesting 3macs1. How about cutting one for your collection? I am interested to see the type of wad that would be used for a full 1 1/8 load of steel. That seems very heavy for steel target?

Hi Covey
Stupid me that is something I never did since I figured I would never reload them.I will see if I can get a shell or two from some of the boys that bought them. I reload everything so didnot buy a flat but picked up right away there was something different when the guys were shooting them. That is when I noticed they were STEEL. What I said??
They were breaking targets when you hit the bird like you were shooting a mod choke in skeet. Ink spots but at the same time 22 and 23 shooters were dropping 2 or 3 birds a round. Made sense to me after I seen they were steel shot which probally produced a real tight pattern.I will see what I can do. take care:)

All winchester says is one piece plastic, probally their std dryloc

My apologies to the OP for going off track with this but I think you know now being in Ontario no one will beat the lead prices from Hummason's or Lawry's. All of the lead we see down here seems to have come from them also at one point. take care

Back to the lead shot. Most of us in southern Alberta get our shot from Claybird Shooting Supplies. His regular stuff is Hummason's. For a while he had a source for shot made from wheel weights. He charged $55.00 tax in for a 50 lb jug. Most of his regulars bought 5 jugs at a time and it sold as fast as pop corn. I still got about 8 jugs and it works great for skeet and good for handicap out to about 24 yards. It might work for better but I am not shooting better.
