Read it on another board that S&B use steel jackets for their commercial rifle ammo.....sure enough I was able to pick up my 7.62x39 123gr sp and 8x57 196gr spce with a magnet.
Not that it makes any difference to me, but figured I would share as I seemed to have missed the memo as well.

It depends on the cartridge, lot, bullet type, etc.
S&B uses some (mostly?) bimetal jacketed bullets (thin copper coating on a mild steel jacket) and some regular copper jackets. The box of S&B 7.62x54R 180gr soft points in my closet are totally non-magnetic.

out of them now but I had some S&B 8x57 in 196grn, and they were regular copper over lead. hot as hell tho, really surprized me after shooting the other stuff I had.

Norma, RWS, Hirtenberger, S&B are some of the manufacturers of cartridges that I have on hand that have steel jacketed soft point bullets. Mostly older stock in the Norma stuff. I killed an elk with one of their steel jacketed soft points last month, 8x57IS 196 gr. RN.
