I have a 303 mk4no1 that I'm going to use for deer and moose and was wondering if Leapers scopes are OK? According to Marstar, Leapers hasa lifetime warranty and if any problems just send tham back to Marstar and Marstar will replace it without 3rd party involvement, so said the Marstar rep I talked to anyway. Anyone have any luck with Leapers/Marstar

A good match for that rifle is a used Weaver K4. Simple, tough, and not very expensive. I have several of the old steel ones made in the U.S. and they all show signs of plenty of use and they all work well.

I agree with machinistbutler, a empty roll of ass-wipe would be alot cheaper, any old weaver scope that's made in the USA are very good scopes, I have 3 and one of them is a 1.5x4.5x20 on my .303 for 18 years still shoots 2 inchs, leapers sucks

leapers scope

hate to say it but leaper scopes are generally sh$t. you do get what you pay for. in the past 30 years i've been hunting, i started with bushnell and have since moved up to nikon and leupold. i've haven't had any problems with the nikon/leupold scopes but have sent 3 or 4 bushnell's back for repairs over the years. in fact, i just sent out another one back two weeks ago.

if i were to start my hunting/shooting career over again, i'd go with the best quality scopes right from the start and save a lot of dicking around/aggravation by not buying the cheap scopes in the first place, such as leapers.

I have two Leapers scopes on my .22 rifles and I'm very happy with them. They're the 3-9x32mm mil dot for $59 CAD at DL Airgun in Langley. Both are relatively clear even in the higher magnification power, and anyone who's shot with me on the range would know that the scopes work. ;)

Granted, I don't hunt...so I don't know if the scopes would fog up or not, or if they are going to put up with abuse or not. Overall, I think that the two I have are well made, especially for the price, and I'm going to try a bigger one on my future .30-06 despite the toilet paper roll comment. :)

Thanks to all for the leapers info. I just got back from the cottage and tell me guys, how do y0u really feel ? thanks again!!

Yup.

Your rifles may come and go, but if you purchase the best scope that you can afford, it will serve you well for a long, long time...

That's really sage advice...I've never thought of it that way before. Thank you. I'm going to remember this one the next time I buy a scope. I did look through a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x50 yesterday, and the difference in clarity and brightness was startling.
