Hi I was just looking for a scope to put on my new 700 LTR and wanted some input on a good scope for it. I have been looking at the Leapers SWAT 8-32X56 scope on the Marstar site, it this a good scope or are the others that are that much better?

Buy the best scope you can afford to get. Check out the Bushnell Banner scopes if your looking for a "budget" scope. I have not seen favorable reviews on the Leapers scopes and have not looked through one myself.

Names you can trust:
Leupold (Excellent quality)
Nightforce (Excellent quality)
Nikon (Excellent Quality)
Bushnell (Good-Excellent quality)
Tasco (Super Snipers or Custom Shop)
Falcon (Lots of reviews on this board)
Mueller Eradicator (Decent optics for the price)
There are others such as S&B, etc. but it sounds like you are looking within a certain budget.

I'm not on a budget, I was just wondering about their quality as I haven't heard a lot about them. As for an other scope I'm looking at is a Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x50mm Long Range Target, anyone have any experance with one?. What I'm really after is a good long range target scope and I don't really care about the price ( to a point).

If your looking at the Leupold VX-III then stick with it. They are great scopes optically and functionally. The new Bushnell 6500 series coming out looks promising as well....as long as they have adequate Elevation adjustment.

Take a look at the Falcon scopes as well if your looking at "Tactical" style.

I have a Leapers 3-9x32mm on my 10/22 for general plinking. For $56, it performs surprisingly well. Would I depend on a Leapers for a high powered rifle or for long range clarity? Probably not...never tried the more "expensive" Leapers scopes like the SWAT though.

Aside from the brands mentioned, I'm really liking my Nikon Buckmasters right now...good value for the excellent optical performance.

Yes I forgot Nikon in my list.

Have one, and I love it! Bright, clear with duplex crosshairs, it was affordable, and I would recommend it.
