I'm embarassed somewhat to post this but hopefully someone will learn from my mistake. I have 2 rifles in 6.5 X 55. One is a WW I Swedish Mauser, the other is a custom F-class target rifle. I had 50 once fired brass (bought new) neck sized, primed ready to load (the first firing was from the target rifle). A few weeks ago a local range had a Service rifle shoot so I loaded up 50 rounds for the old Swede. Went to the shoot and came home with 50 spent casings. So I size and trim and load up a batch for my F-class. I get to the range yesterday, and I was finding it a little hard to close the bolt. I thought I got my bullet length wrong and was forcing the bullet into the rifling. After firing I really had to fight to open my bolt for each and every round. At home sitting at the reloading bench looking at my dies and :bangHead: I didn't full length size the brass ! I used the neck die. So as reloaders know, never, never use brass in another rifle unless you full length size it (on newer rifles you may get away with it - or not). It is obvious the old army rifle has a slightly larger chamber than my F-class. So learn from my mistake and avoid the hassle of a very tight bolt.

I appreciate you sharing this, mistakes happen to everyone. Newb or experienced, this is a good reminder.

Perfect example for a Redding Body Die. Bin dar dun dat and it doesn't need to be an old Swede and a custom target rifle either.
Of course it isn't likely you will have the body die at the range with you when it happens, but it sure beats pulling bullets when you get home.

I can just neck size my .303 brass and it fits 4 of my No 4's.Will not fit my No 5 no matter which # bolt head I use.You gotta play around abit.

I bought that T-shirt as well. Other dumb stuff I've pulled. God, I'm gonna regret putting this "on the air" but hey, if someone can learn from it....

1. Didn't full length resize, drove an hour to the range and they started to jam. Forced one in too far and broke a $30 ejector off the bolt trying to get it out.

2. Loaded up 50 30-30 win out of the wrong box. That would be the box that I hadn't decapped and reprimed yet!! Doooooh!!!

3. Put my 300 win mag die too far into my Rockchucker and ripped the threads right out of the aluminum cap. Ruined the die.

4. Undersized about 200 cast bullets for my 30-30. Couldn't hit anything with them, but had fun quick-firing them off "Chuck Connors style" at the range. Much more fun than the bullet puller :D

Ok....that's enough from me for now. Come-on guys.....fess up. Let's hear about some other goofs.

Went hunting once with a 308 Sako single shot. The cartidges were too long for the magazine. I must have spent an hour getting the bullets very close to the rifling--then I went to the range and tried them out-but loaded singlely.

Never loaded the mag---DUMB!!!!

Sure shot good though!!

Here is part II to your scenario...

After spending a few months only necksizing for your match rifle, and then decide to switch to a new rifle and change to FL length resizing......do not forget to lube the cases...You can probably figure out how I learned that lesson
