According to my chats with Howie Bearse (webmaster at Simonov.net), late 1955 and early 1956 Tula SKS rifles do NOT have the tula rollmark on the receiver cover. FYI, Tula switched entirely from SKS production to AK47 production in the summer of 1956.

I had thought my recently acquired Tula had been scrubbed by Bubba or someone else, but it turns out it's a late 55, early 56 Tula "no date" that is actually somewhat uncommon as Tula didn't make alot of these during the switch to AK production.

Here's a pic of the receiver markings and dust cover for reference:

Interesting...thanx for the info. :)
That would have drove me crazy trying to figure out, by myself. :D

I'm not one to give up easily ;) That, and I happen to know alot of collectors who are "in the know" for many varieties of milsurp ;)

Sometimes it's "who you know"...

That being said, I managed to source the missing parts. Genuine Russian Tula bayo coming from Districorp (they had a few left) and the front lug assembly and rear swivel loop are coming from Marstar.

Sadly, I had to buy a whole BARRELLED RECEIVER from Marstar to get the stupid lug assembly... grr... I told them to shop the barrel off at the lug sleeve and just ship me that and they can keep the rest  Of course, I had to pay for the whole thing though...

I suspect I'll end up with a part off a returned Yugo SKS but that's OK. The lug assemblies are unmarked anyhow.

Numrich also has them but wouldn't ship to me b/c bayonet lugs are EVIL.
