I've got a newer Winchester 1886 with the steel crescent butt on it and I'm having a hard time shooting it without getting bitten. I've tried the "proper" hold with it sitting off the shoulder and in various other places but still seem to get a good stabbing from the top point.
I'm going to try a slip on pad temporarily to use for load development and getting a feel for the rifle but I want to source a nice lace on leather pad that I can put a spacer in to fill some of the crescent. Been looking online but not having a lot of luck finding anything that says it will fit a winchester 1886, just other classic rifles.
Any good suppliers(preferrably Canadian) that have leather covers available?
And it doesn't need to be padded, I can handle the same loads in other guns fine, just needs to be tough and look decent.
