Well the honey oil smell takes a bit of getting used to while applying the oil products. But it doesn't smell once it's on. The mink oil smells decent, and won't be offensive. I think the smell you're talking about would go away after a while. The saddle soap should help with that.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just bathed the action cover in warm water and boy it soaked it right up (was dry as a bone). Part of the smell is gone but still there. I think you are right about it going away over time, lets hope it isn't too long as my Mausers will start smelling more like tobacco then wood .
