How many of your garands wear repro leather slings?
Are they worth the extra $?

Anywhere to get them in Canada?

Original leather slings are quite pricey and are tough to find in good condition. Repro slings, complete with dates and maker's marks, have been around for quite a while. I note that Marstar has them on their website.

I wouldnt have it any other way. I grabbed an SA M1A NM sling from wolverine, only difference is no markings and parkerized steel fittings. Brass would look better though

I've got an original sitting on my 1941 Lend Lease M1, sling is dated 42. Don't think it's ever been off the rifle.

There was someone on the EE selling two used repro slings for the garand not long ago. I think he was asking $15 for the one not sure about the other one. They were in nice shape.

joe n thats a nice one ive been looking for one with brass i cant find them i have one for my 44 but yea 42 sling with brass are hard to find

I've got a few originals (two from WWI and one from WWII) and while they're good as collector's pieces, I'd recommend against using an original sling in the field. Generally the leather is worn so it would be a shame to snap an original sling...

The repro ones are definitely the way to go for the range or hunting etc. They usually run about $20-30 (while originals are usually at least $70 depending on markings). Marstar has some nice repros on their website and you can also find them on ebay. Your local local firearms dealer may have repro M1907 slings (I know mine does).

FWIW, I have a nice 1919 made M1907 sling (for my M1917), but no way would I actually use it. For actual use, I use a Kerr NoBukl as it's web and won't crack from age.

In fact, if you must use a vintage USGI sling, definitely consider the Kerr. It's a better sling anyway IMHO.

mountainstatesupply.com..a fellow CGN'er referred them to me.

These guys make excellent repros, I got one for my Israeli Mauser,($17.00) and just received 2 Swedish Mauser ones.("B" Grade @ $8.00 each) They only charge about $7 shipping to Canada, and have a wide variety, including Garands and even Krags as well as Mauser cleaning rods. Very reasonable prices, well worth looking into!

I have one from 1918. The leathers cracking a bit and one spot along the edge and one hole recently tore. It's all brass parts.
