At one time, Erma made a lever action .22. It used a pot metal frame, with a pot metal receiver cover secured by two screws. It strongly resembled a 94/22, but did not use more expensive machined steel receiver parts. Not a bad rifle for the money. The design eventually became the Ithaca. I suspect that the Henry is the current version of the design, although I have not torn one down to inspect the mechanism. The two screws through the receiver look just like the Erma/Ithaca. They no doubt work just fine.
The 94/22s and Marlin 39s are excellent rifles.
The Browning is slick, smooth and popular with its owners. The mechanism is, well, interesting. I really did not enjoy working on them in my shop. The mechanism is a bit of a mousetrap. I have no experience with the Ruger.
My first choice would be either a Winchester or a Marlin, preference being given to whichever was the best buy.
