I have a 1000 and it came from the factory in .38 special. I bought the turret and installed and set up the .45 acp dies and changed to the large pistol and 45 shell plate. My problem is that when I set up the auto case to the dime thickness to feed cases the arm that swings back and forth hits the feeder everytime. Am I missing something here or is that arm bent to clear the feeder for smaller fatter cases such as the 45acp?

the factory 45acp has a bent S or Z rod- i think that's what you're referring to- as far as i can tell it's only the 45 that has this bend- several people i know have tried to duplicate this and have ended up buying a bent rod- however, going the other way - starting off with a bent rod in other calibers seems to have no ill effects- i've switched my 45acp unit over to 44 mag (44 spcl), left the rod as is - higgensons for parts for lee

Roger that.. I had the exact same problem when using my 1000 for 45acp:mad: . U can either bend the bar slightly, but I also ended up getting a Z-bar from Lee(#TR2452B@$2USD). You can order from Higginsons in Ontario if u cant find locally or Lee will send it to you for $4. It really make a difference and as T-star stated, u can use it in all the other calibers as well..
Cheers:)

Ok, that makes sense, thought I was going crazy or blind or both. I buy most of my Lee stuff thru Higginsons, they are fast and I save the money I would have used on gas and it works out to the same as postage with one big advantage, they always have the parts I need. Thanks guys for the info and the part number.

Took a second look this morning and noticed that if I adjust the 4 hole case feeder guide so that it just clears the hole that the brass drops thru, then the arm that moves back and forth is only just touching and rubbing the holder. So I grabbed a small file and removed some plastic on the holder to allow the arm to move freely and away I went. I reloaded 500 .45acp without a hitch and cases feed just fine now. Switched back over to 44 mag and no problems at all because I had to move the feeder thing up about 1/2 and inch so there is no way it would bind. I reloaded another 1000 .44 mag for some fun at the range tomorrow.
