Hi all, I have a Lee 452- 228 1R bullet mold I got in a trade. I find that it's advertised as good for 45 Colt but I can't find a recipe even in my Lee's Modern reloading manual.
Any advise?

228 grain is a pretty oddball weight, but it will work. Most of the 250-255 grain bullets commnly used in 45Colt recommend just about any fast to medium burn rate powder.
The Hodgon 2019 Reloading manual offerers powder receipes for 160, 200, 215, 225 & 230 grain bullets.
For example, the 225 grain Hornady HDY FTX bullet can use, 5.7 of 231, 4.4 of Clays, 6.2 of 800X..... etc
Pm me with your email & I will send you a pic of the data.....

You didn't mention whether the mold is a Flat Point or round nose bullet. I have a 2 Cavity Lyman 225 gr RN bullet mold. The mold is designed for the 45acp but I have tried it in my 45 Colt. Decent plinker bullet. I don;t think it was as accurate as my 200 gr SWC meant for the 45acp that I have tried in the 45 Colt.

For me if I am going to load for my 45Colt I prefer my 255gr LSWC Mountain Mold over 8 gr of Unique. Good enough for most things walking on four legs and a load I sometimes carry with me in the bush.

The on line Reloading Center is a good place to source reloading data.

Take Care

Thanks for all the help guys. It just seemed odd to me that Lee manufactures the mold but has no load data specific to it. I loaded a few with 6 grains of Titegroup and that seemed like a nice plinking load. The single cavity mold is to slow for me now that I have some six cavity 255 molds so when I use these up it's unlikely I'll cast more.
