doing some spring cleaning and found a box of stuff I don't remember buying ......
among other things was a lee bullet mold .

the outside of the mold is labeled " lee" , then below that is " 45cal250 "

the outside of the packaging is labeled " r*e*a*l* bullet " diameter 45 cal , 250 grain .

the lee website is down right now ......

so anyone use this mold before ?

any idea what diameter of bullets it throws off ?

looking at it I'm thinking it might work really well as a low velocity loading in 45 schofield / 45 colt .... maybe even try in it a antique hand gun or 2 .....

thx in advance :)

I use the 50-250 cast from water dropped wheel weights tumble lubed, sized to .502 and tumble lubed again in my 500 S&W. Works great as an economy load. Cheap on lead. I wouldn't hesitate to try the 45-250 in a 45 Colt revolver treated the same way. I wouldn't use them in something requiring a crimp as they don't have anywhere to crimp them. I seat them in the middle of the front driving band in my 500.

so I cast a bunch last night .

it has 4 bands that engage the rifling , each a slightly different diameter .

I cast them with a soft lead ( ie finger nail easily marks the bullet )

from the front of the bullet to the back , here are the diameters .462 , .457 , .454 , .450 .

I think i'm going to build a resizing die and maybe squeeze some down to .455 and see how they shoot loaded up in a case .
i'm thinking low velocity ( under the speed of sound ) , 45 schofield and 45 colt cases .
