Lee Auto Prime II - good?

Another priming tool question...

I've been using the RCBS tube fed priming system with my Rock Chucker for years. I like it and it has worked well for me. However, it seems to be wearing a little and kicks out primers (that fall all over the place) as I'm using it. It's also an extra step to load the tubes too.

How well does the Lee Auto Prime II work. Seems like it could be faster to load-up a tray of primers - just dump them in, align them and go.

Any issues with feeding primers with this system?

Thanks in advance for your experience!

The auto prime is great and money well spent. The only feeding issues I have noticed can be solved very easily with a little shake.

It has a fairly sensitive feel to it as well, if your doing any rifle.

For some primers, Lee states that you should only put like 10 max in the tray, it doesn't seem to make a difference to me when I put in 100

I really like mine and also like how the seating depth is constant. It does have a "cheap" feel to it with all the plastic but it is just as good as any other Lee product. Just regulate how far you cycle the lever on your press to stop extra primers from entering the ram.

on mine, the last 20 primers always get stuck on the ramp. then i have to push them down with a pencil, even shaking the damned thing will not let them slide down.

These nutz on here talked me into buying one lately. I like it alot! I have a lee hand primer and the rcbs primer on my rock chucker. I believe it cost $20 or so and I like it.

It is easy to add primers and it is easy on your hand. When you get down to 20 primers it doesn't slide well so I just tap in and it feeds.

I have used one for about 15 years now and like it. Same little problem as everyone else with the last 20 or so need a little extra help to feed.

I used to prime with the arm on my RCBS press, but since I bought a handheld Lee tool, I wouldn't go back. Fast, easy, and your thumb controls seating pressure so that loose primer pockets are easily noticed. I have crushed the odd primer, but that can happen with the arm style as well.
