After seating about 7000 primers it no longer seats them deep enough. Sometimes it's not even visible, but the cases are extremely hard to remove from the shellholder.
The device is not reliable by my standards - only 2 years and 7000 primers and it requires a new hand, pilot and tray.
Can you recommend a more reliable tool for priming?
I use Lee turret press - can it prime? And what do I need to prime on a press?

The ram inside has a round bearing srface. It is pot metal and wears if not lubricated. If you take it apart you will find it is worn.

Call Higginson Powder at 613 632-9300 and spend $2.00 for a new part.

And lubricate it this time with a dab of grease!

Or email pics to lee and they will send you the parts. Check that the prime handle is not bent.

I had the same problem with mine, worn cam and bent handle. I needed one right away so I went to WSS and spent the $14 on a new one.

I will still send pics to lee and get the parts replaced, then I will have spare parts incase anything happens to the new one. :D

The Lee turret press should have come with a small priming device.
It looks like a T with 2 liitle cups at each each end. One for small primers & one for large.

To use it it, put it in the press at the front & with a primer in one of the cups. With the ram in the upward position push the priming device forward until it sits under the shell holder. Then on the down stroke it will push a primer into the case. You just have to get used to the proper amount of pressure to use. Then lift the ram slightly to move the priming tool out of the way.

No more autopriming hell!

The Lee turret press should have come with a small priming device.

I am a happy camper! Thank you so much, I've forgotten about those two little L shaped pieces since. They seat like a charm, just a bit slower than AP but deep!

Instead of getting the new parts from Lee I'll just manufacture the pilots out of better steel.

Thanks everyone!
