Hey everyone,

Be prepared, this could be a dumb question.

I've had the press for a year or so and have done a little loading here and there, but not a lot of volume. Today I got a bag of 100 used brass and only had about 10 land in the used primer tube. Do I have something setup wrong? Missing a part?

This is where it looks like the primers are falling out

And the left

And this is where they're supposed to fall out

Any ideas?

Thanks guys,

Cory

Yup you need to put the primer seater in the slot in the right side of the ram .it will hook down over the pin that runs through the ram and travel up and down as the ram travels .it needs to be there to deflect the spent primers down and out the hole in the left side of the ram.

+1 needs primer seater

It's on that page as the P ARM ASSM. Your press would have come with a large and a small (if you bought it new). One of these would fit in the slot, and intercept the primers on their way down, putting them on course for the exit hole. You can probably work something out - stuffing the slot in such a way that the primers will still fall through the internal channel, and out the proper hole.

Cory did you have one or both of those parts?

Same primer arms used on Breech Lock Challenger, Classic Cast (and breech version) and Classic Turret.

According to the parts list the arm for the Breech lock Classic Cast and the Breech Lock Challenger are different, but if you can't find the one for your press PM me your address and I'll send you one from my press. I use a hand primer so I don't need both.

Okay, I am tired so maybe I missed something. You want to give him your primer arm so YOUR primers can go all over the place?

The primer arm is used for seating primers and for deflecting removed primers towards the primer disposal tube during depriming and sizing. So even if you don't used your's to prime with, you should keep in in the ram to keep your deprimed primers going where they should.

The press comes with two arms, large and small primer. I'd keep one so I don't have the same problem as the OP.

Cory, my primer arms were in a padded yellow envelope when I unpacked my press.

Part numbers for Breech lock, Classic Turret and Classic cast arms are P ARM ASSM SMALL SKU: BP2889A, P ARM ASSM LARGE SKU: BP2889B

No worries I have all three presses here and the parts are totally the same and interchangeable. If you don't prime on the press you will only need one for deflecting during de priming anyways.
