im going to be building a rifle in 6mm Musgrave basically a .303B necked down to 6mm/.243 with the same shoulder angle as the .303B. I was wondering if I could put a .243 collet in the .303 die to neck size only have .303 dies on hand right now so cant try it my self. lee does make 6mm Musgrave dies so that wont be a problem to form cases ect but id like to neck size

Interesting question. I don’t see why not.
I have several different Lee neck dies and they all have the same collet dimensions. Should work

Probably not going to work. Going from a .310 mandrel to a .241 mandrel is .059" difference. I doubt the collet will close that much and if it does your necks will be weird shapes as the collet is designed to form a circle for the intended case. The necks will have 4 distinct points in them. For $70 USD you can send 3 fired cases and a bullet to Lee and they will make you a custom collet die. I'd try phoning them first and ask if they can make you a collet die as they already make a full length and seater die for what you want.

I will go size a 308 case with my 243 mandrel in the collet die and confirm though. I'm thinking it will be distorted

Just tried it and the collet will not close enough to size the neck smaller than .281. And it has 4 very distinct ridges in the neck

case forming will be with a full length die just looking for a cheap option to neck size these once fired

The collets are cartridge specific because of the shoulder dimensions and the junction between neck and shoulder.

I looked at the 257 and 25-06 and the are different.

If the neck and shoulder dimensions are the same length from the cartridge head between the two cartridges it should work.
