Lee Custom shop, 9.3 taper crimp die - group buy?

Who is interested in a group buy for a Lee taper crimp die for 9.3 (0.366") bullets - suitable for 9.3x57 / 9.3x62 or other 9.3 cartridges?

Lee requires that a (no primer / no powder) 0.366" bullet be seated in a 9.3 case mouth. I am willing to send Lee Precision a 285 grain Prvi Partizan bullet seated in an unloaded 9.3x57 case to Lee Precision.

Is there a benefit to taper crimp over the roll crimp you get with most seating dies? Im new to this, I don’t crimp for most of my loads
The taper crimp does not work the brass at the case mouth as much and theoretically you would get longer brass life if you do not anneal.

A consistent crimp raises pressure before the bullet releases from the case neck. The theory is that smokeless powder burns and builds pressure. The faster smokeless powder builds pressure, the faster it burns. The crimp (like a shot gun shell crimp) changes the burn rate of the powder and the bullet exits the case at a higher pressure.
I like the Lee Taper crimp for cast bullets.
Roll crimps work well if you measure your cases and make sure they are all the same length, or trim after sizing. I have found that a taper crimp is easier to get consistent than a roll crimp. If you can see the roll in the roll crimp without magnification you are overdoing it.
I set my dies to roll crimp with a neck sized empty case. It does not take much to crimp using the seating die with a roll crimp.
An extra 1/32 of a turn on the roll crimp seating die makes a significant difference in crimp release pressure when firing.
I use a tapered punch to set the roll crimp in the seating die. Gently push the punch into the case mouth. mark it with a sharpy. Place a case in the shell holder and turn in the seating die until you feel resistance. Turn in 1/32 turn more, Cycle the Press with the case in the shell holder, Take out the case and used the tapered punch to see how much smaller the case mouth is - the punch should show about 1/8" to 1/16" space between the original sharpie mark and the case mouth. I use Brake Kleen® to remove the Sharpie mark from the punch
Make sure the lock nut on the seating die is tight before you measure how much crimp.
if you can see the roll, it is likely excessive.
 
Thank you for sharing! There is lots of great Information in your response. It’s not often I use the crimp feature in my seating dies. certain cartridges I use Lee factory crimp dies- 45-70 and 32-20. Maybe I’ll try crimping for my other cartridges to see if it helps during load development.

A consistent crimp raises the pressure the powder will produce prior to the bullet leaving the case mouth. It should be the same every time.
And with a crimp, less is more - that is why i like the taper crimp. I do not have to anneal so often.
 
You must realise that one die will not work on both the 9.3x57 & 9.3x62, right? Lee's FC Dies are predicated on case length, not bullet diameter. That is why the same FCD works for the 7x64 Brenneke & the 7mm Remington Magnum and the one made for the 6.5x54 Mauser works for the 6.5x54 M-S, or the 6.5x53.5R [aka .256 Mannlicher], but the same die will not work for the .308 W.C.F. and .30-06.

A number of years ago, I had Lee make a FCD for me for the 9.3x57, as well as other obscure & obsolete cartridges that I insist on keeping alive. It works quite well, at least on my cast bullets.
