Lee Enfield 1918 MKIII

Condition and originality are everything when determining MILSURP value. Sporterized or not? Matching numbers on bolt and receiver? Bore condition? You might be further ahead to ask on the MILSURP thread with photos of the rifle. Lots of expertise and opinions there.

Well sporterized rifles are generally not worth a whole lot, I can't tell from the pics if the barrel has been cut, has the rear sights, you could restore it. But being its your dads rifle and he passed it on to you kind puts it in priceless category, for me anyways anything that has been passed on to me has far more sentimental value then dollar value.

he gave it to you TODAY and your already looking for a price ? whew, hold things dear don't yah ?

Price with or without scope, seen em go for 120 up to 400 for chopped up Lee's. Id say engrave it and hang it.

It's not like it's a family heirloom it's just another gun that he bought and doesn't want but thanks for the commentary on my personal activities.

Looks like it has a bit of rust on the barrel(doesn't look cut). 0000 steel wool and light oil(a light touch with a fine brass wire wheel in a bench grinder is faster if you have such a thing. Eye protection is mandatory.) will fix that. Take off the stock.
How's the headspace? If it's bad you have a problem. Fixing it requires a handful of bolt heads at about $22 each to try with proper headspace gauges until you find one that works.
How is the bore? You have a mag?
Values will vary a bit from place to place. Epp's is listing a sportered Lithgow with a poor bore and no mag at $125. Depending on the headspace, mag and bore condition, your's is worth more than that. Maybe $150 to $200ish. WHAG though.

I do have a mag with it but no follower in it. Bore doesn't look to be in great shape either, I can see some rust but it's hard to tell just how bad it is.
Looks like it's not really worth much to sell which is probably why he gave it to me rather than sell it in the first place. I'll see if I can clean it up a bit this weekend.
