How rare are these rifles in the civilian market in Canada? Good buddy of mine had one passed down and actually took a deer with it a couple of years back. Believe this is the same rifle currently being retired from arctic service. Doubt this one has seen much north of Sudbury.

Are you talking about the average No4 MkI or specifically a Ranger issued rifle?

No4's are fairly commonplace but I haven't seen any Ranger rifles pop up since they've been replaced.

It specifically has the word "Ranger" 1942 imprinted 303 on the barrel near the action on the left side. I did not see any crossed out service marks.

will have to look closer next time they have it out.

That's because we haven't got the new rifles yet. rumor on the street is that we will have them in our hands spring 2017 as for our rifle of issue it just a standard number 4 mark 1.

Last I'd heard was they would be popping up on a recent Ranger exercise.

As for philhut, can you part any pictures?

When (if) the Rangers eventually retire their No4 rifles, there won't be any sold as surplus, they'll be destroyed. It's the law.

Unfortunately no didn't think to take a shot. Was defianetly a #4 and was in fantastic condition. My buddy told me it was his grandfather's rifle in ww2. However there were no decommissioning marks. Only the caliber 303, RANGER, 1942 on the rear left of the action printed in the steel. Only held it for about 2 mins. Should I keep quiet maybe? Don't want my buddy in trouble. Sounds rare indeed if it's a somehow unissued ranger enfield.

Newer to these forums didn't see milsurp.

I don't think the rifle I'm talking about was ever in Ranger circulation. May have been picked away from the original order way back in the day as my friends family were execs with a large company that supplied stuff like that in the past.
