I am trying to find a scope mount and am having trouble doing so. Does anyone know who carries a mount for a .303 Lee Enfeild in the Toronto area??? I tried Bass Pro, LeBaron, and no luck. Any info would be appreciated, (who makes them, model # etc). Would consider drill and tap but I don't think it is possible.

Thanks

The Weaver TO-1 is a drill and tap base that fits the No1, the No4 and the No5 rifles. Epps and most other gunshops should have it. Marstar and others carry non-drill type mounts.

I ordered a Nice mount from Brownells a few years ago. It's a Cad-Teknic thumb-screw return to zero mount and I like it. You have to remove the top to get the bolt out if you have a Vernier peep sight on the rifle but it's not that big a deal.

There is also a blurb on www.303british.com about an Angle-iron scope mount. Total Home brew.

303britishdotcom shows a mount suitable for the #4 and #5 Lee Enfield, nothing for the #1MKIII or MKIII*. I was thinking of getting the marstar #1 MK III* mount for my gun but thought better of it as I don't know of anyone who has one. I have heard the #4 #5 mount that Marstar is selling is good. Also, there is an English company that sells a mount similar to the Marstar #4 #5 mount but steel, this is marketed by Fulton's of Bisley I think. I have no experience with the various mounts for the #1 MKIII* drill and tap or not. Is the T01 mount for Weaver rings? I heard it was for 3/8" .22 rings?

Made this for my #4 it is really good, I milled the cheap angle iron for a tight fit. "Coyote" from this site made it from angled aluminum, very nice fit. The beauty of this mount is it is low, the "No-gunsmithing" mounts raise the scope way too high.

I got my ATI base for the #1 MKIII*, it appears to be a 'jam fit' style of mount. I think for the thing to be really secure you'd have to drill a hole in the charger bridge and one in the receiver ring. Any impressions as to the advisability of drilling and tapping 2 holes in a perfectly innocent Lithgow? It's a parts gun anyways, although because the Coachwood stock was bubbad I went through the motions of putting the full walnut wood set back on. So on one hand I am reversing bubba's butchery and on the other I am helping bubba out? :) :runaway:

Otherwise, I am happy with the overall quality of the ATI base. Looks like it's been well put together!

As many other people will tell you, please don't drill and tap an innocent Lithgow receiver...there are so many bubbaed ones already out there...this is especially so if you've put full wood back on it.
If it's got full wood and a nice action, sell it for $250-$400 or so and buy a drilled and tapped Bubba for $100...they're out there and you'll be up $ on the deal.

After many hours of research, I ended up going with the Cad Technik mount. I just purchased it from a fellow Gunnut.

Thanks for all the feedback.
HA! Wally wins :D :p
