i was just wondering is orginal ammo still in the box Sealed. worth anything i just picked up one yesterday and it came with ammo sealed still. i wanted a gun to shoot at the range that would have some kick.

Depends what kind of box, friend. If it's in the little blue packets of 10 and tied with string, there are guys who would kill for a couple.

How many in the box? 32? 48? 50? Factory markings?

They all make a difference, sometimes big difference.

took a picture but its hard to see

it says on the box

H-112

40
cartiges
303 nomkVII

a half circle with a arrow pointing up with C.I.A underneath it

and the rifle i have has a soilders name wit his numbers in it could that make a stock would more ?

Canadian-manufactured. Likely WWII-vintage. If no date is stamped on the box, the exact year won't be known unless you broke it open and looked at the headstamp on the brass. I'm betting the stamp showing the number of rounds reads "48" rather than "40"

Value? I picked up three boxes at the Easter show in Calgary for about the same price as three boxes of current manufacture Win Super X. There has been some similar ammunition for sale on the EE here. That'll give you a sense of what you might get for it if you sell it, rather than hanging onto it for any collector cool factor.

It is worth exactly what you paid. There is no particular market cachet for unopened boxes. There aren't virgins or bottles of fine wine - although some CGN'ers may disagree.

ahh that sucks lol . i am curious about opening the box now then to see the year, and what the bullet looks like. can u buy .303 ammo in bulk (in crates )

If you find a crate, you will have the equivalent of a cheerleading squad of virgins and two crates of vintage wine. I don't think anyone, even on CGN, has an unopened crate of .303BR anymore.

Over the past 2 years I bought several 48 round boxes of surplus Greek and Canadian .303 from an elderly blind gentleman for $25 at the local gunshows. It was corrosive stuff, and I had a few hangfires with the Greek ammo, but all in all, my Enfields (my P14, and my 1905 Ross) digested it quite happily. I haven't seen him around for quite a few months now; this veteran always brought along interesting artifacts, not for sale-just for conversation. He had a complete Ross M10 rifle as well as an intact P14 at one show.
His wife had to poke him and tell him the stuff that I wanted to buy, that guy had some really interesting stories to tell!
I go to the shows now, and if I can find that type of ammo, it goes for $45 a box....it's a lot cheaper to use once fired Boxer, and roll your own....

Really hard to find any bulk 303 up here. The damn yankees still have some around but as we all know we canucks cannot buy it or posses it down there. More the shame. Same goes for the spam cans of 30-06. When I win the lottery I am moving to Arizona so I can open a full auto range so all the Gunnutz can get their rocks off.

I had 1 opened crate and 1 unopened crate of HXP .303 that I had to sell to cover some bills - almost 2500 rounds in total. I also ran across a sealed box of 288 rounds of Canadian .303 that I got for about $160 US - it shot very well, but is all gone.
