I have a nice #4 sporter that I use in bad weather or as a loaner.

The military butt is much to low for a good cheek weld for aiming with the scope.

I could crudely carve a piece of 2x2 pine into a cheek rest.

Or I could install a sporter shaped butt. I am not aware of these for sale anywhere.

Can anyone point me to a source?

There are a few dealers with synthetic stock sets in the $100 range with built in cheek risers if that's what you're into

Boyds Gunstocks still makes a Sile style butt stock with high cheek rest for the SMLE.

Yes, I have one here for my SMLE sporter project. And I could buy one for the #4, too. A bit pricey since they insist on mailing to Canada.

I am hoping to find a old sporter butt from someone who has re-built a sporter. An old Churchill or Parker Hale butt would be perfect.

Looking for cheap - not elegant.

Have you thought of a leather lace on butt cuff with a padded cheek riser? Would fit the LE look nicely. I hear you on the lack of check weld with a scoped no.4, it’s more of a chin weld. I’ve gotten used to it but if I come across a padded leather cheek riser I’ll grab one for sure.

That would be a good Plan B. Better than a 2x2 of pine.

Alternatively, wasn’t there repro no4T wooden cheek risers out there for people making no4 sniper clones? They just screw on, I think Numrich sold them or you might score one on eBay.
