Lee Enfield's MK II (from the little I know) had full wooden stocks from butt to muzzle. Does any know if they were some “original” MK II which had shorter stocks, which looked like a MK III sporter?

No. Pics would be great. I think you either have a "Tanker" (which never was and is fake). Or you have a Junglr carbine fake (All jungle carbines were marked no. 5) or you simply have a sporter. Again pics would be great.

It's stamped on the breach - No 4 MK II (F) 8/50

Alright then, you have a No.4 Mk2 rifle built by Fazarkaly (spelling?) in Aug of 1950.

As for the stock, it should have a full wood stock that extend to about 2.5 inches from the muzzle.

here is a Pic of a No.4 Mk1, The No.4 Mk2 looks identical as the Mk2 has up upgraded trigger (the hollow bolt handle is not standard on No.4 rifles)

Their was a carbine version built during the war, this did have a stock similar to a sporter stock. These were Known as the No.5 Mk1 rifles.

Thanks guys.
It looked to me like the stock was changed on the rifle and you just confirmed it.
