My husband inherited a Lee Enfield, which we have pinned down as an Australian MA Lithgow, but we had read at the NRA website that we should try to discover its authenticity by researching the serial number. It said to look in a book called The Lee Enfield Story, but we have been unable to find it. Does anyone know of another way to research the serial numbe

The book you refer to is Ian Skennerton's definitive history. Try epay or one of the on line used book sellers. Expect to pay upwards of $50-$75, and be thankful. He has a website if you search.
 
Hi. There are no records by S/N. They were destroyed long ago. Post every marking on it here and at Jouster. Look on the receiver, under the bolt handle and on all other steel parts for the markings. Post same.
