Lee Enfield - Markings Question

Hello everyone! This is my first post, I was wondering if anyone knows what "msi*" means on the receiver? certainly doesnt loo like a Mk. I*. thats an S in my books.

Hi, JMon. Decent of you to use Imagehost. Big pictures take forever to load a page for a dial up member. Repsonded to your other post. Then got all techie and copied and pasted. snicker.
The 'No.' looks like it may have been restamped at one time. Suspect the 'S' is a poorly stamped, underlined 'k'. Even though it does look like an 'S'.
