Hi, first time poster...

I have a Long Branch FTR'd mk1/3 and I was wondering if anyone has tried fitting a mk1 stock to a mk1/3 rifle. I got it for dirt cheap as a shooter because the barrel is brand new...probably never fired since the FTR, but bless his soul, bubba has refinished the wood to something that can only be described as "wonderful" in his eyes...I have a lead to a full set of Long Branch mk1 wood for a great price but I don't know if it will fit, or can be made to fit.

Cheers!

Mk1 stock will have the cutout for the bolt release, but you dont need that for a Mk1/3. (MkI* upgraded)

You will need to cut out for the trigger and remove the reinforcing strap. Then you will need to make some inserts to cover where the reinforcing strap was and drill the stock for a small cross bolt that will take the place of the reinforcing strap.

fitting MkI* wood to a MkI/2 or Mk2 is a bit more of a problem.

Ok I see. Ideally a mk2 fore end would fit without any cutting and replacing of the reinforcing band? Although it would also have the cutout for the bolt release, which apart from being unnecessary would not affect the fitment?

Thanks!

yes a Mk2 and MkI/2 forestock will fit anything

I have in my project bin an early savage 5C###X pre * that I am looking for a stock and a LB 3L###X also pre * that is a MkI/2 now that needs a stock. not easy to find the proper marked stocks for those.
