Lee Enfield much 1 magazine

hello, I just baught a Lee Enfield target rifle chambered I 308 however the magazine won't hold the 308 rounds still meant for 303 rounds. I was just wondering if anyone else knew how to modify the age to take 308 or has an extra clip for sale I can modify
 
These were not intended as repeaters, the mag was used as a loading platform. You can mod a mag to work but it still will not eject without a lot more work. In case you didn't know, Lee Enfields were never intended to use more than one mag and it was only removed for cleaning, loaded from the top using clips.
 
I think you will have to replace the tabs on the magazine, you will probably have to take it to a gunsmith unless you can mig or tig some metal on it yourself.

I have a 45-70 converted enfield, and the magazine was converted to center feed, doing this may be your solution as well.
 
Stirling made the mags and modified ejector/extractor. They are now in the realm of "unobtainium". The last mag Stirling mag I saw at a gun show went for around $150.00 and that was ages ago. Lots of luck.

You need a 7.62 follower plus adjusting the mag lips. A real No. 4 Rifle conversion's mag was square on the bottom vs the rounded .303 mag. Same mag lips, so there's no welding of any kind required. No idea where or if you can get one though. You could fiddle with the lips to try and get it to feed.
 
Well, since I started shooting DCRA when I was sixteen, I have a quiver of LB and DCRA rifles and enough parts to build several more I think I have a rough idea what I am talking about. The question was about a "Lee Enfield target rifle chambered I 308". That would tend to mean a DCRA conversion rifle or equivalent in this country, Canada, that is. My statement "not intended as repeaters, the mag was used as a loading platform" is entirely true and correct. Of course there were repeaters built on the #4 but very few were used for this purpose as all TR shooting done under DCRA rules was single shot. If I were to dig out old rule books I might even find that the use of a magazine was not allowed but I am not sure on this and don't want to waste the time looking!
