Dad gave me his father's No5Mk1 Jungle Carbine.

It shoots 8" left at 50 yards. After some research it seems that the front sight "glides" back and forth. There seems to be no loosening screw but two punches under the front sight. Do I just tap the punches to the left a few mm's? Not going to touch it until I know what to do.

Help.

Cdn303 is right but just to clarify - don't tap the pins on the front end. They attach the front sight assembly to the end of the barrel.

The sight blade itself needs to be shifted. It should be tight in its slot, necessitating a brass drift. There is a technical tool which is essentially a C clamp.

I would have thought a no5 would have the screw type front sight blade?

If you look at your front sight through the openings in the front sight protector you will see that it is in a dovetail groove. This is held in place purely by frictionIf your point of impact is to the left tap the sight to the left(looking at the sight from the rear)

8 inches is a lot of error for 50 yards. That would require moving the front sight 4 blade widths to the left to correct it (according to my sources). You might want to check if the forend is contacting the barrel.
