I was wondering if the Lee Enfield experts could offer an opinion on the markings on my gun? I apologise in advance for the pictures. These small, faint stamps are a bit beyond the capabilities of the camera and photographer. I have a 1918 vintage No. 1 MK 111. The stampings, which are on the stock in 4 places and the top of the barrel, appear to be: “2 broad arrow GG” and “47 broad arrow GG”. I think they are unit marks and the ‘GG’ refers to the Grenadier Guards. Can any experts educate me?
