I have acquired a nice rifle with an excellent bore. I did some research about serial numbers etc. but cannot pin this down. It is all matching with the number K18362. It is marked BSA, 1918 and III*. Barrel, receiver, bolt, nose cap and stock are all marked with the serial number. There is a stock disc but it is blank. I would like to know more about it if anyone can help. Thanks, Dave

Hi Dantforth..... :)

Your rifle sounds identical to the one displayed in the MKB (Milsurp Knowledge Base), except it was manufactured a year later. You may want to check the MKB's example and the photo virtual tour, in order to compare the markings and serial numbering to yours.

1917 BSA ShtLE (Short Lee-Enfield) No.1 MkIII* (click here)http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=706391

Congratulations, it sounds like you've found a nice piece, especially if the serial numbers are all matching on the correct components.....
