I've got a LE with a busted safety. The rocker lever is kinda' loose and when you move it to the safe position, there is no resistance and it doesn't "index" into place like a properly working safety does. When you push it forward with the bolt cocked, there is an audible click and the bolt partially drops. I'm not sure, but its possible that there will be an accidental discharge should there be a live round in the chamber. Anyone familiar with this problem in the older LE's? Anyone know for a parts diagram so I can figure out what I need in the way of replacement parts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,
Sean

..... Two options here .... most likely, the safety was not re-assembled correctly on it's pivot shaft (that's the threaded part with the lever attached) and of course , the other option is not to use a safety.. carry it with chamber empty. From my own experiance, it would be very unusual for the safety to actually be broken. I'm not a hunter by any means, unless you count paper targets, and always use the empty chamber rather than trust to a safety catch. .... good luck with your SMLE ! They really are a fun gun to "play with " ! ..... David K.

I had a No1 MkIII with a broken safety, the end of the shaft on the safety was broken off, Disassemble and just replace any broken parts.

If your unsure take it apart and post some pictures it will be obvious to someone who has taken a few apart
