Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1 Front Sight Question

So a while ago I bought a No 4 Mk 1 sporter with the intention of restoring it, i have acquired all of the pieces but i have run into a snag.

When I bought all of the hardware the man who sold it to me told me that i would have to remove the front sight to install the rear stock band.

How do I remove the sight? Can I remove the sight base or would it be better to just remove the sight blade itself?

It's spring steel, difficult, but I managed to squeeze it over the sight. Seemed less of a hassle than removing the sight without marring and having to find a new correct split pin.

Grizz

Thanks, It's on now.

(Edit) for anyone else that has this question, Here's how I did it.
Put a small drop of oil on the side of the sight blade (Where it sits in the base)
Mark the sight blade on the front (I used sidewalk chalk)
Tap the sight blade out with a small brass drift
Slip on the rear stock band
Clean the sight base and blade
Put a small drop of oil on the base where the blade goes
Place the sight blade in the sight base and lightly tap in until your marks are lined up.
