dose anyone have any info about no4 lee enfield from tradeex. Has anyone purchased one,where were they made, what kind of condition are they in , are they worth the 370, just wondering
 
I saw several of them. '42-'43 BSAs and Maltbys, all original, never rebuilt, clean used condition. Interestingly, some had the no grooves, no half #### bent cocking pieces. It is very unusual to see a rifle with this part, because almost all were culled out and replaced.
 
where did these rifles come from ,are they worth buying as collectors , Antony sent me some pics of one looks real nice i was just wondering if anyone out there may have purchased one , what they tought of it
 
I think they came over from Europe, and yes, they are good for collecting. All of them are matching and the 370 is a great price for a matching, full, original Lee Enfield. Although, if these did come from Europe, they will have the new UN markings that they are trying to force on everyone. But these can be seen as a legitimate part of the rifles history.

I am thinking of picking one up, as I don't have a British example of a No.4 yet.
 
I bought one, a 42 (i think) Maltby. It is a used rifle, some dings in the wood, but it is a very nice example in my opinion. It shoots very straight with the iron sites. All in all I was quite happy for the money. And I didn't see the UN marking, maybe I'm just not very observant?

And we certainly never gave anybody permission to sign anything that is binding upon us.

The UN should be watched VERY carefully by people such as us. One thing they have up their sleeve is a drive toward universal civilian disarmament. That means US. Governments, who manufacture 90% of the actual violence and repression, will be allowed to have anything they want, of course.

And another thing they REALLY want is a universal Income Tax. This would be levied on the 'rich' peoples of the world (which is US) and handed over to the 'poor' peoples of the world. Nice idea, but take a look at the 'poor' countries now, where every penny that everyone dumps in ends up in a Swiss bank account and virtually none is spent for the purposes for which it is given.

But the UN should be watched.... very carefully.

I recived my no4 mk1 from Tradex a couple of days ago it is in beauiful condition,its a 1943 not sure where its made ,the numbers all match as a few small dents in the wood but verry nice wood apears to be walnut with a fluted hand guard. The stock is marked sl over an N 74 . The serial numbers on the metal parts are stamped on very crocked like it was done by inexperinced workers.I took it completly apart and cleaned it up not that it was real dirty but just had to see what was under the wood after 67 years.Very happy with this rifle .
 
What are the markings on the left side of the receiver and on the left side of the butt socket?

N 74 indicates the factory that made that stock. There are lists that show ALL the codes; your rifle could be littered with them.

You really have something to learn about. Nice thing is that you can have fun while you're doing it.

thank you for the info nice to know where it was made the rifle as verry few markings on it i took the gun completly apart.The manufactures name isnt stamped anywhere.I have a no1mk111 .that as codes serial no almost every part of the gun,it was my first surplus rifle ,i have taken several moose with it and its a very accurate rifle and all matching but the sad thing is its been sporterised.Trying to find parts to restore it to its former glorey
but thats not going to be easy
