I have one of these CAL 1950 bayonets in mint shape, and it has a thin chisel point with no evidence of the point being flattened through opening ration tins, etc. Was this chisel point standard, or were some of these bayonets made with a sharp needle point as I have seen on some (possibly resharpened) WWII Long Branch bayonets?

All info welcome.

I have one of these still in the grease, so your post prompted me to take a look. It is widely flattened on both sides of the spike end and slightly so on top and bottom also, but does come to a very pointed, needle-like tip; certainly not chisel shape. I've compared it to a variety of Cdn / Brit bayonets in my collection and the CAL 1950 clearly does have a sharper point !
Interesting post, thanks.

Just bought one will let you know when i get it
Well I got it and needless to say someone did a bubba on the tip
A half inch if not more has been ground away
So I have 1 of 5000 of no collector value
