Saw this coming up for auction, wondering what a reasonable price to pay would be [without getting hosed ;) ]
I saw a very similar set years ago [more than 10!] for around $1400 I think it was...

Any thoughts?

The guys are quoting realistic prices. Besides the rifle and scope, three accessories make that package attractive - the No.8 "boot", the No.15 Chest and the WWI style sling.

Being as good as you will ever see that gun will go for well over 4 thousand. The only way it could be more desireable is if it said Long Branch.

Very Nice

Very nice, thanks for posting the pics. It looks like it is missing the "Handkefchief, Mk I " though :) , nice to see the label on the chest , clear enough to read all the instructions! ("Do not finger the glass surfaces" )
Good luck!

JP, I believe that your price estimate is a tad on the low side for an unissued No4 MkI T in the photograph.

Even an issued one with mismatched scope/brackets in VG condition but with similar accessories will bring $4000.

At the right auction, especially if word gets around about the condition of the rifle, that No4T, could go as high as $7-$8000.

Not only that but it carries a war time date. All the more desirable to some collectors.

I know that you know your stuff but I recently saw one in lesser condition as it was obviously issued sell for $5500. It came with all of the accessories as well.

The rifle and accessories are worth more in parts than $4000.

I would pay $4000 in a heartbeat for an unissued, all matching No4 MkI T with all accessories in mint condition.

It's interesting how the prices vary from region to region. I saw a similar sniper rig at the Orangeville gun show some time ago, and it the seller got no hits at $4500. and took it home with him. He may have sold it later, I have no way of knowing that, but hereabouts a price tag of $4500. - $5500. would be in line.
