Today at long last I collected my No 8 rifle, one 100 made at Fazakerly for Woolwich stamped W4.

To top the day off when I was waiting the chap let me play with an original 20 rd SMLE mag. It was the genuine article and previously owned by the late Herb Woodend. The chaps were apprenticed together!
Didnt have my camera on me but for sure next time I will.

Apparently 4th made of that run of 100. It seems the Woolwich 100 were converted No4 actions. It was restocked with "new" unused wood from the gun shop and the two chaps were at Enfield for their adult careers.
I'll do daylight pics tomorrow lunchtme. it came with target aswell as military sights.

I dont have the mag, that is worth more than any SMLE I have seen. apparently there are 2 left, most were destroyed at the end of the war!
I will visit him again as he wants help with his deer so I will be there soon!

Cheers,
Well we are certainly on the ball arent we?
The woodwork was new as in unissued and fitted only a week or two before I bought it. The Dealers have just moved to a lovely farm about 20 miles north of me from their old base in kent so I win win!

They do but I dread to think of the cost for it! Its all marked correctly

Made postwar as a result of trials to produce a training rifle for the services. Canada produced its own and its just about identical. Often found ill recently in cadet armouries, never cleaned and always winning trophies.
