Hi folks,
I need some clear information, if at all possible. I have scoured the web and cannot find a clear answer to the following:
I own a 1945 No.4 Mk I* Longbranch and am trying to find the matching bayonet for it.
I have found a couple of No.4 Mk I Cruciform style, made by Singer. However, my research indicates that this is the original, made for the Mk I. The Mk I* is of later production than the Mk I, of course.
So, further research found the Mk II spikes. Well, enough said - not a MK I nor Mk I *.
The issue that I have is I cannot find definitive information that tells me exactly the type of bayonet originally used on the Mk I*. Did they use the Mk. I Cruciform Blades? Was there a specific Mk. I* bayonet? Did they use the Mk II spike ("pig sticker")? Since mine was 1945 Longbranch, what would it have used?
I have found a couple of Longbranch branded MK II bayonets that I know would fit my Mk I*, but I try to keep original accessories matching correctly to the firearm.
Thanks in advance!
